Definitely true. Vista would no have been designed the way it is if it wasn't a fact that most people have 80 GB main drives or larger now. It has been a fact, good or bad, since computing began, that a sort of Parkinson's Law exists in that the more space that is available, the larger the apps and the more that gets used. The faster the processors, the more CPU that will be required to execute programs. Sometimes this is a good thing since more functionality is added, but other times it simply relieves the developers from creating more compact and efficient programs.

I remember spending hours going through code to remove unnecessary spaces and punctuation and rewriting modules to save lines to make it use less memory and speed execution. Those days are gone and sometimes people make no effort whatsoever to streamline their apps. I think that is the attraction of all the "tiny apps" sites--that things can be done much more efficiently with ingenuity.
