Vista Remote Desktop Question
Hi,

I have been thinking about buying a new computer. It appears that all home computers come with Vista.

Currently, I have Windows XP home. My employer allows me to work from home 2 days a week via remote desktop. My computer at work is Windows XP pro.

I connect to a VPN first. Then after I enter my network credentials, I can establish the remote desktop connection.

Will I still be able to do this in Vista Home Premium? This is a key feature in my life and I would not want to lose it considering the 35 mile drive into the office. Any help would be appreciated. My tech guy at work said he is not very familiar with Vista, but thinks I still could (I work at a small non for profit agency). I am very confused with what Vista does and doesn't do.
Thanks to anyone who can help.

All versions of Vista have the Remote Desktop Client. You shouldn't have any issues remoting into work with your new computer.

What VPN client do you use?

Thanks Squashman. I established the VPN through the new connection wizard in "My Network Places" in Windows. Will that still work with Vista as well?

You should consider using NTR Connect (www.ntrconnect). It is free, secure and very easy to use.

More details about the VPN would be needed to say for sure. Vista does not support older versions of MSCHAP. Only MSCHAPv2 is supported as older versions are not secure. Ask your network administrator what version of MSCHAP is used.

Thanks
Thanks to all of you for the suggestions. I must admit that it sounds confusing. My IT guy is not very friendly or helpful so using software outside of remote desktop is most likely not an option. I would like like to hope and pray that my computer does not fail on me and that I do not have to buy a new one. Should I take my computer in for a "tune up"? This there even such a thing?

Thanks

That will not work for his situation.
