Can't install 3rd party software
I am trying to install a 3rd party piece of s/w using an execute file. I'm running Vista Home Premium and I am the only user of the machine. UAC is turned off. When I try to execute the installation program, I get the following message -- "Windows cannot acess the specified device, path or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access this item."
Any thoughts, Tried to run the execute file through the command prompt but also got nowhere. Anyone with any thoughts will be appreciated.
Cheers

Have your right clicked on the application and chose to 'Run as Aministrator'?

Problem has been solved. Yes, Dave, I got a version made for Vista but I have since found out that the installer execute file I downloaded from a local TV station had a trojan horse embedded in it. It was giving me an error message but it flashed so fast, I didn't even know it was there until it was gone. I blew away everything I had, downloaded a fresh copy from AWS and everything was good to go. (Wonder why my downloader let it pass with a virus, hmmmmm!!) Anyway, thanks for your help and everything is now good to go.
Cheers
