Pocket PC Sync
I am running Windows Vista Home Premium. I recently bought an HP iPAQ Pocket PC H2210 that for whatever reason will not sync with my vista machine. I have tried to launch Windows Mobile Device Center, but every time I have tired the software it crashes immediately.
The error I get is:
Description:
Stopped working

Problem Signature 01: wmdc.exe
Problem Signature 02: 6.1.6965.0

The same thing happens when I try to sync using the cradle. I have been looking online for a solution, but I have not had any luck so far.

Can anyone tell me why my Windows Mobile Device Center would crashes? Would you be able to point me in the right direction on how to fix this issue?
Is there an alternative to Microsoft’s Mobile Center?

I'm seeing the same error on a clients machine right now.

He's reporting that it functioned normally until the workstation was upgraded from Home Premium to Ultimate. No answer as of yet on this end.

Here's our solution:
Run REGEDIT and navigate HKEYCURRENTUSER>SOFTWARE>MICROSOFT>WINDOWS CE SERVICES> PARTNERS and delete the key referencing your device.
Uninstall ALL Windows Mobile Device Center instances.
Download the latest version from Microsoft.
Install with the mobile device connected.

Everything magically worked again. I'd complain about Microsoft selling software before all the bugs were worked out, but they've been getting away it for over 30 years now.

Confiremed working.
Got same error as Airesz' first (System.ArgumentException)
I suspect older version of Nokia PC Suite caused this
1) Uninstalled Nokia PC Suites and all their Connection Solutions etc
2) Reinstalled WMDC 6.1 and Driver Updates (rebooting inbetween)
Still no luck
3) In RegEdit, found WINDOWS CE SERVICES\PARTNERS\SERVICES
4) Deleted WHOLE services tree
5) Worked!

Also noticed that after connecting device, it looks like
WINDOWS CE SERVICES\PARTNERS\some hex number\SERVICES
So looks like Vista lost this number somehow
