Unhappy BSOD on Vista Startup
Hello everyone!

Starting yesterday I have been getting blue screens when i start vista right after the loading screen pops up. It is getting really annoying because every time i start up i have to run the windows start up repair and it takes like 30 minutes before it finally uses system restore. But it just happens when i start up again. I do not have my vista install disk because i stupidly didn't buy it with the computer (they wanted me to pay extra for it ). Also when i visit random sites my browser will close, it doesn't matter which browser i am using. I have tried Firefox, Opera, Internet Explorer and they all do it. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Search this code on google 0x0000007B

It's one of 2 things, i think. Corrupt Vista install. Or a possible bad hard drive.

I would start by finding out the manufactur of the drive and run their diags on it.

Seagate/Maxtor = Seatools (if the Maxtor is fairly new)
Western Digital = WDDiag
Toshiba's don't have one, but you may be able to use WDDiag and get a good idea if there is a problem.

If the drive checks out as good. I would just backup my data and Reinstall windows.

Who was trying to sell you the restore disks?
Most OEM's put a restore partition, if the drive is bad, you will need to get the disks from them anyway.
I hate Restore Partitions. They should just give people the disks, it's already figured into the cost anyway, or it should be. Most people don't even know they need to make the disks from within the OS when they first get the system, till it's too late.

You should contact them and order the install disk -- you may need to do a clean install at some time.

You may have bad ram or a bad hard drive among other things.

To test the ram run mdsched.exe and read the additional info and run the extended tests.

Run chkdsk /r

You will need to reboot to complete it. After rebooting the log will be available in the Event Viewer (run: eventvwr.msc) in the Applications Log > Wininit entry.

Try going to the Control Panel > User Accounts and creating a new administrative account for yourself and test things under that new account.
