Question vista won't let me change password
Hi - thanks for any help
I have only one acct, which is admin. When I start the computer, password works fine. When I go to change the password, I get an error message saying that the password I entered is incorrect - it is a very simple password, and I am absolutely positive it isn't incorrect. Any way around this?
The reason I am trying to change it, btw, is that i get a "password incorrect" message when I try to connect remotely using logmein, as well, even though it is definitely the right password.

Thanks,

Jeff

Which Version of Vista are you using? Have you tried doing this is safe mode? Have you tried logging in as the user named administrator in safe mode and reset your password. You sure you don't have the Caps Lock or Numlocks on when you type in your password?

hi - thanks for the reply. its definitely not caps or numlocks. i have vista small business. what happens is a) when i log on normally upon starting the computer, my password works fine. when i try to use logmein.com, (remote access) it tells me i have the wrong password and won't let me in. I am DEFINITELY using the same password, for the same user account, so something weird is happening. when i then (back at my computer, not remotely) try to change the password to see if that helps, every time i try it prompts me for my old password and then tells me i have the wrong password . i haven't tried safe mode - i don't know what that is. i would be happy to try safe mode, but the real problem isn't so much a need to change the password as the need to figure out why its blocking remote log in.
