"Microsoft is planning a launch event Feb. 27 in Los Angeles and is likely to release both Windows Server 2008 and Vista SP1 close to that event."

Doesn't look like the release date to me but just the date of some party.

February Launch Set for Windows Vista SP1
Microsoft schedules a Feb. 27 launch event for SP1 and Windows Server 2008 in Los Angeles.

http://www.pcworld.com/article/id,14...l?tk=nl_wvxnws

Microsoft hopes to align SP1's availability with Windows Server 2008, which Microsoft hopes to ship on or before its Feb. 27, 2008 launch event in Los Angeles.

You posted the link twice...

I know how to read, deubanks.

Here's something from a better source (Microsoft): http://windowsvistablog.com/blogs/wi...vista-sp1.aspx

"In mid-March, we will release Windows Vista SP1 to Windows Update (in English, French, Spanish, German and Japanese) and to the download center on microsoft.com."

I did not intend to imply that you could not read, Jonmcc33.

I was only showing two articles that show that PCWorld seems to think that SP1 will be released on or before Feb 27.

Sorry if you didn't like that one of the links was in two different post.

I read the article that you linked to. It might be more accurate. Who knows?

PCWorld pointed out a celebratory launch party. I'd say that if Microsoft states it will be out for Windows Update and available for download in mid-March that it's pretty accurate. That blog was posted 2/4 as well. Everywhere else I have read points to mid-March as well.

Yes, but they seem to like PCWorld, so I let them start from there.

Performance Results Mixed with Vista Service Pack 1
Files copied faster in our initial tests, but other performance was slightly slower with the SP1 installed.

Service Pack 1 was released to manufacturing yesterday, and officially sent out to reviewers today (Service Pack 1 was also unofficially unleashed today on BitTorrent, too). Service Pack 1 will be available to users in March, as a download; Microsoft plans to have SP1 integrated into Windows Vista at retail as well, but could not give a timeline on how quickly the update will be included in the retail version of Vista.

Bit Torrent? That will make it easy to save to disc for future re-installs and updates.

It wasn't posted to torrent sites legally so, no links here please. They will all be removed and posters admonished accordingly.
