Unhappy What's wrong with my computer?
I have a HP Pavilion dv6000 laptop, and it has recently quit working, pretty much all together.

When I go to turn it on, all of the media lights turn on, as well as the fan, but only for a matter of seconds. From there, the lights and the fan keep turning on and off, and the screen stays black. It doesn't do anything, really.

I'm not sure if this is a Vista problem or a hardware problem, but any help, advice, or input would be greatly appreciated.

If you think the battery has enough charge -- try to run it on that alone.

When running off the adapter, check to see if the plug is solidly inserted in the jack.

It sounds like a power supply issue -- but could be anything related to the motherboard. If you cannot start in any mode, or even use a bootable recovery disk -- you are looking at a hardware issue.

If the system is under warranty you should contact HP.
