internet explorer unexpected closing
When i run IE 7 on windows vista and attempt to search using their search bar (made my default google), internet explorer closes unexpectedly, with no error message and no pop up saying "send problem to microsoft blah blah blah". does anyone know why?

I have never encountered such problem.. but try scanning your computer with good antivirus/anti spywares.. such as AVG/NOD32/Avast.. etc..

My old computer used to do the same thing after 3 or more windows were open. I thought it could have possibly been bad ram but I'm not sure. Does it only happen whe you have a few windows open or tasks open?

Do you have the Google Toolbar for IE installed? Seen that symptom more than once with it.

nope, no google toolbar...
it also happens when i search with the myspace search feature on their homepage.
it's so mysterious!
and it occurs whether there is one or one hundred tabs open.

What if you change your search page default?

Can you give us list of plugins installed for IE? Btw it wouldn't help to publish Hijackthis log here....

For instance-- some earlier Flash, IE7Pro, IESessions releases do this and/or conflict with each other.

Does this behavior also manifest itself on other IE-engine browsers? maxthon, avant, flashpeak....

I randomly had your issues at one time or another.... solved by uninstalling ie7pro(latest release no issues btw), updating flash...

Filehippo's update utility can help keep everything updated.

Good luck....

When you post your Hijak log we may well get other clues... like there are so many other apps trying to mess with search settings--- from ie7pro to roboform to ccleaner to foxit reader to etc. etc.

I don't see anything major...

1. Aim been reported to cause that at times.... fixed by upgrading to latest beta... or downgrading from the latest beta. Yes, mixed reports....

2. Flash recent version reported to cause this... FileHippo can provide you with Shock & Flash standalone installers...

BTW re Flash:

Install routine sometimes can't cleanly uninstall previous version, and/or update a file in use(when you run Spybot / System Internals module you may catch/confirm install error)...

I would right-click Flash installer, select 'Run as Admin".

And we need to know whether other browsers(both ie-engine & non-ie engine) play nice with search / active x/ shock / flash in order to eliminate possible causes.... like high security settings maybe reenabled by a recent windows update...

3. Maybe conflicting immunize/spy/firewall/AV settings protectors...

4. Running Spybot / system internals module may catch some errors somewhere(not the malware engine).

BTW go Bucs
While this gets resolved, a couple of plugins to help recover browsing place / work:

IE7Pro, IESessions can help restore crashed browser sessions. And at Nirsoft.net IEHistory Manager can also help.
