Complete Re-Install question
I had to do a complete re-install 2 days ago. I am waiting for a driver and program disk to come to my house to re-install those since I can't get them to re-install in DOS. I've added MY programs(Mozilla, Incredimail, Weatherbug, Picturetrail Photo Editor, iTunes, I can't remember what else)to the computer but I'm wondering if I will have to re-do everything when I get that driver and program disk.

Do you know?

Nothing should be done in DOS. There is no DOS in Vista and I can't imagine what you tried to do.

Installing drivers does not affect any installed programs.

I finally got the disks from Gateway and it says right on both of them that they will wipe everything clean and it did, so I had to download ALL of my stuff AGAIN!(that was the 3rd time)!

Everything is working just fine now, though!

I would really recommend using an imaging app like acronis. When you do a clean install, you make an image of your disk[s]
If the need arises for another install, you simply restore the image. Back to the way it was when you installed vista. The restore takes <20min as opposed to hours for a clean install.

I do this for all systems I build.
