Need to add RAM with Vista question
My HP Pavilion 9000 series laptop with Vista has only 1G ram. Travelling out of country at the moment and just downloaded a program that won't work without more ram. I would like to increase the amount of ram in my computer, but I do not know the type of motherboard or the open slot configurations. Is there information in my computer that will tell me any information regarding my motherboard make, or RAM slot abilities. Looked around in my computer a little with no luck so far. Guess I could contact HP for help, but assume that would be a slow process.

Thanx
Marc

Thanx but scanner won't work. Will not load Why? I do not know. May try downloading the software-it is an option, but it bugs me that the scanner is still trying when I would be trying to download. Only way to stop the scanner is to exit the page-but that's where the downloadable program is...if you catch my drift.

8-bit...downlaoded the little program and got it to work. My Ram question was answered by the scan results. Thank you both for your prompt help. Only problem now is to buy the product from the US and have it shipped to Panama, 50 bucks for 1gb upgrade, or pay 139.00 here in Panama City. Panamanians are getting ripped off here! I am just on an extended vacation. Anyone flying down here in the next week or so? Just kidding! LOL! Now how does one mark the question solved? grrrrrrrrrrrr

No need to use the scanner. Just go to Crucial and use the Crucial Memory Advisor.

You also need to know if your 1 gb is 1 stick or 2. If it is 1 then you can buy 1 if it is 2 sticks then because you only have 2 slots you need to buy 2 sticks.

Or just replace both and max it out because DDR2 is so dirt cheap these days?
