Series of service crashes
Over the past few days I've had a few problems with Vista (64 Ultimate) mainly around Superfetch. I'd be pottering away in a game or even just browsing online when the screen will blink briefly before bringing up a message that superfetch has stopped responding. The first time I thought it was a one off problem that wouldn't happen again but a few hours later the same thing happened. I didn't notice it yesterday much but earlier it happened again. I went into event viewer, system log and noticed this.

[img=http://img404.imageshack.us/img404/1108/systemproblemsdj8.th.jpg]

The highlighted error is for superfetch but as you can see a whole host of services have died at the same time. They are, from bottom to top....

The Windows Audio Endpoint Builder service terminated unexpectedly. It has done this 1 time(s). The following corrective action will be taken in 60000 milliseconds: Restart the service.
The Offline Files service terminated unexpectedly. It has done this 3 time(s).
The ReadyBoost service terminated unexpectedly. It has done this 3 time(s).
The Human Interface Device Access service terminated unexpectedly. It has done this 1 time(s). The following corrective action will be taken in 120000 milliseconds: Restart the service.
The Network Connections service terminated unexpectedly. It has done this 3 time(s).
The Program Compatibility Assistant Service service terminated unexpectedly. It has done this 3 time(s).
The Superfetch service terminated unexpectedly. It has done this 3 time(s).
The Tablet PC Input Service service terminated unexpectedly. It has done this 3 time(s).
The Distributed Link Tracking Client service terminated unexpectedly. It has done this 3 time(s).
The Desktop Window Manager Session Manager service terminated unexpectedly. It has done this 1 time(s). The following corrective action will be taken in 120000 milliseconds: Restart the service.
The WLAN AutoConfig service terminated unexpectedly. It has done this 1 time(s). The following corrective action will be taken in 120000 milliseconds: Restart the service.
The Portable Device Enumerator Service service terminated unexpectedly. It has done this 3 time(s).
The Windows Driver Foundation - User-mode Driver Framework service terminated unexpectedly. It has done this 1 time(s). The following corrective action will be taken in 120000 milliseconds: Restart the service.

As you can see it's a fairly big list of services dying all at once and I have no idea what's causing it. Until I looked at the log I thought it was only superfetch causing issues but it looks much wider now. Has anyone experienced something similar or does anyone know how to resolve this?

Any luck with this?

Just had the same series of processes die.

What antivirus and video card driver do you use?

I just upgraded to NOD32 version 3, Realtek's latest AC7 audio driver and ATI's 8.2 Catalyst drivers.

I don't think it's graphics driver related, we're not using the same brand. I've got an nVidia 8800GTS so I think we can discount that. Antivirus is AVG Free and I'm up to date with all latest Windows updates (Vista Ultimate 64). The strange thing is that as quickly as this appeared and as annoying as it is, it's now stopped. I don't remember updating anything that would fix it but if I find out what it was I'll let you know.
