Smile Facing problem with Internet connection with Vista
Hi,

facing problem in internet connection on microsoft - vista.
As, i am using static Ip-address from my vendor for internet connection accessing.

For microsoft - windows prof, i am able to access net conneciton but not able todo the same through vista.

Steps: I will change the ip-address in control-pannel -> network -> select the tcp/ip protocal and change the ip-addres change.

Not able to access the internet for the same steps applied on Vista.
As it displayed an error as: Not able to access to DNS server.
Cross-cheked with my vendor, the same DNS server is up and running.

Please advise, whether any additional check needs todo.

By design Vista Home Basic and Home Premium do not allow access to a domain. What version are you running?

From your first post, you weren't trying to access a Domain, just the Internet. Is that correct?

What is all the IP address information?
Are you setting this in IPv4?
Can you ping 4.2.2.1
Can you ping www.yahoo.com

Since you are using a static IP address, I would not recommend that you put that in this forum.

Here are some steps you could try.

Open an Administrator Command Prompt (find the Command Prompt icon, right-click on it, and select Run as Administrator).

1. Type "ping 127.0.0.1" (without the quotes). (This tests your local TCP/IP stack).
2. If this works, "ping localhost" (without the quotes). This tests your DNS client. The IP address should be 127.0.0.1.
3. If this works, check the settings the service provider gave you. Click on the orb and type "control netconnections" in the box. Right click on your Local Area Network and select properties. Select TCP/IP (v4) and click on Properties. Your service provider should have given you numbers for all of the boxes you see. At the very least, you need the first four boxes to surf the Internet.

Based on your message, the IP addresses in the bottom two boxes (the DNS servers) are wrong.

By the way, if you do post your IP address information, just erase your IP Address. All the other information is safe to send.
