Exclamation Windows WON'T START~~BLACK SCREEN OF DEATH
OK, last night my computer crashed. I have no recovery disk and it won't even start in safe mode. I tried all the different things that you could do from the DOS program, and nothing works. The computer is just a year old so Vista was on the computer when I got it. I did not install anything or change anything. My daughter was on AIM and she clicked on a link her friend sent her...couple minutes later...BLACK SCREEN OF DEATH! No matter what I do I cannot get windows to start at all..in when starting safe mode it get so far and stops.

Anyone have any ideas what happened or what I can do?

I think you need to get more information out of your daughter, as to WHAT the link was and what is was suppose to do?
You just may have LOST everything.

NOTE:
By adding MORE posts is NOT going to get any one to help any faster. We are ALL volunteers here and 2 minutes is NOT even enough time to read your post and think about it.

The link was to a page on craigslist and it was from someone she was in the middle of a conversation with that she and I know.

As for the mulitple post, I am sorry I was editting and tried to change the title of the post, it was not intentional and I can't figure out how to delete the other post. Please don't think I was being rude or impatient.

I am having the Same problem. I encountered this issue on another vista PC and was able to boot from the install CD and reinstall Vist. In this case I have no CD and the restore process is on the HD which I cannot access b/c windows will not start in any mode. Immediately after the crash it booted in Safe Mode but when I rebooted to get out of Safe Mode it will not pass the black screen with the scrolling green light. Safe mode loads to crcdisk.sys and stops.
Help??????
