Hp A1720n
Hey Guys..

New Problem.. My PC is so slow now .. (A1720N) even after 3 Gb Ram .. Thnking of reinstalling windows.. I bought this with Win Vista Home Premium.. I dont have a CD for vista.. but i have XP CD.. Before taking this step.. I went to hp.com .. searched for drivers but didnt find drivers for XP (DUH!) .. so what shud i do? aNy IdEas!?

go for it! install xp and deal with the driver issues later, under xp you will find a lot of what you are looking for. It would be better if you had the vista os disks but seeing as you don't, you have nothing to loose.

So see where you get with that and try and solve the problems there.

DUde.. If i install XP .. and it duznt wrk .. i wud have to get Vista CD's .. thats like expensive .. cnt afford doing such a mistake.. first i would try to find drivers for XP .. theN i would install .. cud u help me wid this?

Or is there any way i can get a installation file .. cuz i do have my product key.. jst dont have CD. .

Well, in that case make a list of all makes and models of the hardware you need drivers for, download them, and have them ready. But it might be better to find out what's making it slow
in the first place.

So what I would do, is start stripping back the software loaded on the machine and keep
only the things you must have. There's a handy bit of software called Vista manager which
can help you with all that, it's free for a trial period so give that a go.

Then after that you can try and optimize your services making sure you have only nessesary
things running. It's a long road tweaking and keeping a machine in order and it' all down
to keeping a close eye everything.

Adminstrator tools is a good place to go to see what's going on, things like event viewer
tells you about errors you might have and then you just google for answers.
