Cool VISTA internet speed (bandwidth) slows down gradually to zero!!!! HELP!!!
hi,

i have vista 64 with sp1. My initial speed is 7mpbs when i start my pc. After few hrs of continuous stream of watching movies for 3 hrs ...i lose my internet. can you believe it?. It is consistently happening every time.

Ceck those test times... it goes down in lumps in short time...if you keep opening or closing.... it is still same speed as running same movie stream..more or less..

after reboot...

After 5 times open this stream movie ...and close internet explorer...to simulate this problem...faster way..
http://www.breaktimetv.com/2008/02/q...it-s01e05.html

another 10 more times...

another 10 more times..

It goes down....within 1 -2 hr from full bandwidth to 0 and get disconnected....

After going through various forums , tried all the suggested solution..no improvement.
Anyone solved it completely?.

1. Disabled MCSS.
2. Removed it from registry from audiosrv key.
3. removed the differential compression ( unchecked it in windows features dialog)
4. Have no virus spy software.
5. Ipv6 is unchecked... only using ipv4.
6. disable other lan card.
7. it is new install.

It acts like a memory leak but it is a bandwidth leak and end up my internet completely disconnected.

I reboot and everything normal until i start to stream videos. Always upload limit remain same until it is disconnected.

Anyone have "correct " solution..i see someone declare it is fixed by disabling mcss...BS!!. problem is still there.

Anyone found a permanent solution except rebooting every time i watch movies for hr or two?.

Note: It only happens when i watch movies online...it might also happen if i listen audio (i don't know about this one as i don't listen music that much!).

Configuration:

Penryn 8400
4GB ram
3 SATA harddisk
Marvel libertas wireless card
p5 k motherboard
64 bit vista
very fast ..no spyware ...no virus...
Internet speed 100% (6900-7000kbps) when pc started...
After 20 min streaming...it comes to 50% of bandwidth to around 2500kbps...then 1500kbps...then 500 kbps...then connection disconnected...
Very bad design by microsoft...it is funny that no one has find this out... yes i saw people found similiar thing around last august or something but thie problem is fixed by disabling mcss i think...my problem still exists....

Thanks.

Hey, in this Vista is not letting down your bandwidth, its your ISP problem that you may use their servers all time continousely, to check this surf the web only for 3 hours and then check your speed. If it does not let down then it may be your time to move to new ISP.

Oh my god....are you people ..?. if i reboot any time...it will show 100% bandwidth..if isp is reducing my bandwidth ...why not it goes back to full when i close all programs... why it only gains 100% bandwidth when i reboot?.

i do not think it is anything to do with isp.

When you reboot , if you are using dynamic IP , then when u connect every time, it assigns a new IP 4 ur pc so when u reboot u are treated like a new user with ISP & ur bandwidth got 100%

Are you sure ? if you think u r 100% correct..you are wrong... i disconnected my internet and reconnected.
ipconfig/release
ipconfig/renew

Also disconnected my pc from wireless network. reconnected.

nothing changes.

Then i rebooted my router.

nothing changes.

i gain my bandwidth only i reboot my pc. So your theory is wrong unless you give me a method to test and confirm that is the issue.

IT happens only when i stream (this is 100% confirmed as i downloaded 3 gb downloaded in full speed when no stream was running and it never went down).

The minute i start streaming...bandwidth start to leak!.

Something like this happens to me. Only when I stream for a long time the speed slowly decreases to zero and i have to reconnect again, its the ISP, you should call them and ask to see whats going on with their stuff becasue its not vista.

I do a lot of beta testing so I get to download some very large ISO files. Just this week end I started a one, at over 700 kbs, but toward the end 2 hours later it was less than 400 kbs.
This is NORMAL, as the cable company does not like "Bandwidth HOGS".

I do not have that problem when i just download 3 gb files. mine has constant 900kilo bytes per sec when i download.

This problem has nothing to do with ISP.

My problem happens only streaming not when i download files. if it is ISP problem i my download speed also should go down...that is not happening when i just download files.

type this in a command prompt and restart system. then see if the problem still persist
netsh int tcp set global autotuninglevel=disable
vista has a auto tuning tcp stack that command will disable it.
if it doesnt fix the problem and you want it back on just remove disable and put in enable and it will be back on

Since you are apparently streaming through a wireless configuration -- have you tried connecting directly and bypassing the wireless setup and perhaps the router as well?

This is NORMAL, as the cable company does not like "Bandwidth HOGS".
3 yrs with my cable company hasn't shown that to be normal at all. Maybe the server got busy.

Are we hogs if we use what they tell us we are paying for?

If you go to an all you can eat restaurant, do they only let you get up for one plateful?

I don't think the ISP issue has moved to Canada yet. You will know when it affects me as you won't have to read my posts.

Last big file I downloaded, 700MB LiveCD, started at 25KB/s. Watched for about five minutes, no change. Next day took a look. Finished downloading, averaged 611KB/s. By my math, thats over 24 times original speed I saw. Thats average, therefore it must have been going even faster to bring it up from the original slow speed.
