Arrow Solved: How to set a default photo program on my computer?
I got a new photo program Nero PhotoShow from Dell. It automatically set itself as a default photo editor on my computer. I still want to keep Paint Shop photo album 5 as a default photo editor.

I looked in Windows Vista help how to do it, and no luck. They address me to the option "Set your default programs". But the programs are already set up there (some of them don't make much sense to be honest with you ... but I'll keep this list as is) and there is no way to add any more.

On this default list there is no photo program at all, that I can change , or add.

Can you please help???

Why this Vista made it all so complicated?? .. you feel like you need a PhD in computers to figure this damn stuff out LLLOLL.

Thanks a lot!!

It is NOT a Vista issue, this new program when installed took over the defaults.
When you are in PaintShop, under options or preferences there MAY be a File format Association. Here you may be able the make PaintShop the default for the different file types.

If you have another prog you want to use to open files, its pretty much thesame as other windows. Find a file you want to open..jpg, bmp or whatever.... right click on it, go to "open with" then pick "choose default program" Click the one you want to use, and make sure the box at the bottom of the dialogue box with"Always use the selected program.." is ticked. Thats all there is to it

Mission accomplished! Thank you very much everybody. Gulo your more detailed guide helped me much. Until now I could not find a choice when it asks me about the default program. Just today I downloaded new photos, and was carefully following your guide, until I could actually choose a default photo program!!!!!!!!

Thanks techyguy forum!!!!!
you are the greatest!
