Question Problem with touch pad
Hello,
Tapping has been bugging me for months. I have just downloaded the Synaptics driver for Vista (32 bit)... v 10.1.8 06Dec07 My Device Settings tab is similar to the left screen shot that JohnWill has posted. However, when I click on settings, there is no tapping option... only Overview and Buttons.

Any ideas? Thanks!

I put this in your own thread. When you have a problem, please start your own thread. The reason is that with one problem per thread it is difficult at best to follow what has/has not been done; with two it is impossible.

Are you saying tapping used to work but doesn't any more since you downloaded the driver, or that it has never worked?

If the answer is never, it may simply be that tap zones are not a feature offered on your particular computer, especially since you have no options for it. What does it say in your manual regarding your touchpad?

Sorry about that. Tapping has always worked. My goal is to disable it. I can disable the entire touch pad and use my external mouse, but this wont always be practical. The manual doesn´t address the issue, unfortunately. Thanks again!

In that case, I'm sorry, but I'm fresh out of ideas. I can't understand why it doesn't have the relevant option. Can you contact the manufacturer and ask if there's any other way to do this? I'm thinking the manufacturer has for some reason known only to themselves, decided not to offer any change options in this area.

Something very similar happened to me.
I restored the system to the point before i downloaded the synaptics driver and i solved the problem.
(i didn't download the driver again)
