Converted from Vista to XP, Need Audio Driver
I just converted to XP from Vista on an ACER Power 2000. It has an integrated sound card and I can't seem to find a driver for it. Any suggestions?

Thanks

right click on My Computer and click properties
Click the hardware tab then device manager
right click on the sound card (it should have a yellow exclamation point on it) and choose properties
Click on the details tab
best bet from here is to either go to PCIdatabase.com and type in the part after &DEV_ into the Device Search box then match up the Vendor ID with the part after VEN_

Other option is to just google search for the VEN_1234&DEV_ABCD and hope someone else has ask/posted about it.

No sound card is listed in the device manager. I assume this is because Acer lists it as integrated. I do see a yellow question mark on "Other devices". Could this be related to my sound trouble?

Lightbulb You can delete that
You can delete that yellow(?)
Nothing to lose.
Restart; Your computer might "found new hardware".

Either way you should get rid of that yellow(?)
It will block any atempt to install anew.

Integrated or not, you need a driver.
You need the name (model#) of your sound device, then go to Driverguide.com for the driver.

Otherwise pick-up a physical sound card (PCI) and it will replace the integrated one.

According to Acer site, there is no audio driver for your rig under Vista. They do have one for Vista SP1 but as SP1 hasnt beemn released properly yet, seems they are gun jumping a bit.
All is not lost though. Your sound appears to be Realtek Audio R165, for wich a driver is available here

http://drivers.softpedia.com/get/SOU...ver-R165.shtml

I canr say it will definitely work, as Acer may have some weird setup, but worth a try. I would suggest you make a restore point prior to installing though, in case it goes floppy
