Issues after reformat of Vista
Hi..

I just reformatted my Windows Vista Home Premium 32 bit computer. The problem now is, the screen resolution isn't what it should be. It's much less sharp. I tried changing the screen resolution in the Personalization thing, but to no effect.

I used the CD my computer (Dell Inspiron 1521) came with. I'm sure it's just the driver that I have to activate to fix, but I don't know how.

Also, now that I've done this, I do not have the option of booting into Ubuntu, or any other OS's on my system. Can this be changed in BIOS?

If your hard drive was reformatted, then there is nothing else there, but Vista.
As for your graphics, you most likely need a driver for your video card.
Go here: http://support.dell.com/support/down...=us&l=en&s=gen, enter your service tag, and it'll tell you what driver you need.

Yea, I managed to get the drivers working. My issue now is how to boot from other partitions. I believe I have the answer, and I'll try that when I'm on that computer later on. Thanks for helping.

I discovered a new issue though; I backed up my files using the Vista program, and now it doesn't let me restore those files. Is there anything to do or are they gone forever?

I'm fine with all of that stuff. I now just need to know how to access a different partition. Before, I had the option of selecting which one I wanted to boot from, but now it goes straight to Vista. A partition editor tells me that it is still there.. I recently reinstalled it, and I wouldn't mind doing it again, but if there is an easier way, that would be much easier.

Thanx

Cloud, The last screenshot, "MANAGE BCD OS ENTRIES" Read the small print at the bottom. (This gives you a list of all OS's installed on your system which are stored in the BCD registry.) It means if it is still on a partition on the machine, VistaBootPRO will find and configure it. I suggest you use the option, (FORCE BOOTLOADER INSTALL) I have always selected that option, and it's the best shot you have at the XP partition being recognized.
Good Luck, Cindy
