Solved: Old Linksys WRT54GS firmware CAUSING SLOW Download with Vista!!!!
Well..... I was just about ready to throw my new laptop out of my window today after trying EVERYTHING I found on-line about the slow download speeds with Vista. My XP works fine but put my Vista next to it and watch the grass grow for accessing sites or downloading.... I also have VoiP and when I was on the support line with HP today, I noticed that my Vista worked lightning fast when I was on the phone... After the tech checked my system and could find no issues and we ended the call, S L O W speed again... I made another phone call and WOW.. FAST speed while conencted on the phone. After checking with my VoiP provider they suggested I contact Linksys to inquire about a possible router problem. When I went on-line to Linksys, I found a firmware update for my 2-3 year old router... I decided to download the firmware and IT FIXED THE PROBLEM... YEAH!!!! I know this is a very popular wireless router and imagine many who purchased this while using XP and now upgraded to Vista....... I can get some sleep tonight!
