laptop connecting wirelessly
hello, i have a desktop computer connected to a modem and a router with vista, and i have a laptop with vista connected wirelessly to the router. i can get internet and all on it but for some reason i cant get my printer to work on the laptop. on the desktop i made my printer shareable, and on both computers i clicked printer sharing to be on under sharing options. everything works fine when i click add new printer on my laptop until i come to the point were it asks me to connect to my desktop computer. when i click on the folder to connect to my desktop computer i get the box with the keys in the upper left corner saying i need a username and password. i have no idea how to find that. i tried everything, the user account on the desktop doesnt even have a password, and i even tried making both computers administraters accounts have the same username and password. i even turned off UAC on both computers and that didnt work either. does anyone know how to find that username and password, im about to pull my hair out, lol. thanks for all the help

Have you look at you firewall on the machine with the printer, as it may be blocking the Vista machine from accessing the machine with the printer?

If you have password sharing on, try it with password sharing off.

You're welcome. If you're satisfied with password sharing off please mark this 'solved' using the Thread Tools at the upper right.

If you need password sharing on, we perhaps we can help with that.
