A DIFFERENT sidebar problem, can't re-add gadgets
Hey,

My sidebar works fine, and i can see all the gadgets which are currently active on the sidebar, however if i try to re-add a gadget which i'd previously removed, this is where i run in to a problem.

When i click on the '+' button at the top of the sidebar, for a split second i can see all of the installed gadgets, then they disappear and all that i can see are the default gadgets that come with vista.

This is very very very frustrating, as if i want to add i gadget, the only way i can think at the mo is to reinstall the gadget. can anyone help?

thanks.

Just try "Right clicking" in the Gadget area and select Add Gadgets!

Two things too try:
Reinstall java.

Open a command prompt (click start type cmd) and run the following 3 commands: Hit Enter after each - then reboot computer.

regsvr32 scrrun.dll
regsvr32 jscript.dll
regsvr32 msxml3.dll

Thanks for the suggestions guys, neither worked, tried them both already anyway but thought i'd give it a go again.

This really is baffling me, i've spent about 2 weeks already google-ing this and haven't found one other person with this problem.

Just to clarify, when the gadgets are running in the sidebar its find, its when i go to the 'add gadgets' window, none of the gadgets i have installed myself appear for more than a split second. I mean i can see them for literally a second, so windows is obviously acknowledging that they are there, but then they disappear and i am left with only the default gadgets (i.e.- calendar, clock, cpu meter, wheather, etc.)

Will be calling microsoft later today (but i very much doubt they'll be of any help, they never are, probably just get told again that they;ve never seen this and how interesting this is), any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Solved the problem for me
Hi!

I just registered to tell you how I solved the problem.

1. Close Windows Sidebar

2. Go to C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows Sidebar

3. Delete the Settings.ini file.

4. Start Windows Sidebar and Re-Add your gadgets.

NOTE: Settings that you have in your gadgets may disappear (Notes, Weather etc ), and some may still be there. Depends how the author implemented the gadget.
