Three days after uninstalling Sigmatel Drivers and numerous Windows update attempts, Automatic update downloaded and installed SP1 (65megs) without a hitch.

After numerous correspondence with Microsoft and many attempts, SP1 was finally successfully installed. I had to uninstall completely the firewall and the anti-virus program before installing the SP1.
