Sudden Paperport/vista Problem! Pls Help!
Out of nowhere (possibly related to Windows Vista updates, but I'm not sure), I cannot open paperport (either 11 or 9, which won't even install on Vista). I get a "paperport not working" message, and Windows closes the program. Sometimes a message about not being able to find "MV Extension" also appears.

PLEASE HELP WITH THIS! Nuance won't answer emails, and nothing I've tried has worked. I have uninstalled, reinstalled, done several system restores, even restored only paperport from backup dated the last time I knew that paperport 11 worked. Nothing.

I saw threads on this in March of 2007 through a google search, but nothing recent, and I could not contact any of the posters on those old forums.

Thanks in advance... Kathy

I just had the same problem with PaperPort using Vista. I reinstalled and it's still there which makes me think it's a result of an automatic Vista update - - - I'm not that technical and am looking for help here. Hopefully, someone can bail us out!

Paperport/Vista Possible Solution
I had the same problem and with the help of a relative, here is a possible solution:
1. Go to Control Panel, Click on System Icon
2. Click on Advanced System Setting
3. Under Performance Tab, click on Data Execution Prevention tab
4. Change button to Turn on DEP for all Programs and Services except those I select
5. Add following exe. files to list:
a. Kill Paper Port
b. Paper Port
c. Paperport MV Extension (PPMV)
d. Scanner Setup Wizzard
I honestly don't know which one of these files cured the problem, but after many efforts of trying various items, this group selection worked.

Good Luck

I had the same problem with Vista Ultimate here.

My solution was to reload paperport after running msconfig ----( Start / Run "msconfig") and temporarily disabling and switching off services.

good Luck
