Does Windows Movie Maker freeze too much for anyone else?
I'm trying to make a music video, and whenever I add a clip into the timeline, the Windows Movie Maker will stop responding for about 10 seconds. Does this happen to anyone else? I am dealing with a video clip that is 150 mb though.

As per usual, my system stats.

Windows Vista Home Premium
Service Pack 1
1 gig of ram
1.80 mhr
Hp Pavilion DV6500
Whatever version of WMM that comes with Vista.

Thanks!

As long as it starts responding again its probably normal. I don't know exactly how WMM does it but in both Premiere Elements and Studio 11, the clip is detected and one or more small files are made (info and index I'm guessing) so the program can easily recognize the format and be precise in applying any edits to the clip. Sometimes that process can be very fast and not even noticable but it can also range up to several minutes for a large clip and some of my clips are up to 12 gigs.

Another possibility is that some memory adjustments are going on, possibly incorporating the page file to accomodate the new sequence of clips because presumably you might want to edit any clip at any time or there just may not be rooom in memory for everthing without paging some other stuff.

Like I said, as long as it starts responding again...I have yet to use a video editing program that doesn't have some hiccups, many much more severe than a 10 second pause.
