Desktop is blank.
Hi, my sister's laptop recently started acting up. She tried restarting it and the desktop ended up turning black with no icons or start menu to use. I tried to fix it and it worked, temporarily. What I did was advice received by one of the former questions on this forums.

I pressed Ctrl + Alt + Del and clicked "Task Manager". I then clicked the "Processes" tab and ended the process named "explorer.exe" Then I went into the "Applications" tab and clicked Start new task and put in explorer.exe. That worked right until I restarted the computer. Then the same symptoms started again.

The laptop is a Dell Inspiron Notebook with Windows Vista.

Any help is greatly appreciated. =D

Has she recently installed anything. I've installed some apps in Vista, and on some rare occasions, it caused explorer.exe to stop working. Uninstalling the app will usually fix the problem.
