Exclamation New Problemo!
Hey guys.. Problem with Acer TRAVELMATE..

I have this laptop.. 3.0+ Ghz and 500+ Ram .. Installed Vista... it was very hard, because the laptop won't boot the CD.. Jst a blinking cursor would keep on blinking, and the computer wud not respond after that... i had to shut it down.. and the same thing repeating. I installed Vista by just turning on the Laptop, inserting CD etc. Now i figured out that Vista does not support the wireless lan card. Thus i need to go back to XP. I inserted XP CD, and the same blinking cursor shows up. Even by disabling Hard Drive, same thing. I cant even install XP by just inserting CD when it is on, as it is a previous version of Windows, and it doesn't allow me to. Please hElP! Thanks

If you can boot the Vista CD, but not the XP CD, it sounds like there's something wrong with the XP CD. Can you read it on another computer? You might have to try to get a new copy... or get a new wireless card that is compatible with Vista.

I've seen this before with one of my machines. It could read cd's just fine from within windows, but wouldn't boot. I just kept trying and trying and it finally booted. I had an ISO of the cd and burned a few copies before I got it to work. They worked right away on another machine though... it lead me to believe that there is some problem with the cd drive, but it works perfectly from within the OS... so, that's my experience.
