VISTA64 - IE7 32 bit wont install Flash
Ive just installed Vista64 bit again after it failed completely last time at several things immmediatley after install now ive run IE7 from QuickLaunch 32-bit and when i try to install FLASH ACTIVE X it says "Your Security Settings Do Not Allow Active X to be installed"..????

Ive never changed them and not heard that it has to be done either....

ive even tried enabling PROMPT and ENABLE in Security settings but still doesnt work...

Im trying and trying with 64-bit but for me it just seems crap , very problematic and I bet I re-install 32-bit before the nights up...

any ideas guys?

thanks

hehe - its also slower than 32-Bit for booting up....
my 32-Bit used to take 30secs with my new hard-drive now it takes nearly double but most annoyingly the tray icons are slow to load in tray whereas before they flew in... I didnt buy a 7200rpm drive for my laptop to speed things up a bit for Vista 64-bit to slow it down , i would have kept the old 5400rpm drive if that was the case

I cant see what the fuss is all about for 64-Bit , it offers access to more memory and more secure but is it really worth all the headaches that come with it to be denied this n that , not compatible or BSOD just because 1 program MIGHT work better under 64-bit... I cant see any performance increase from using it.

I kind of like vista 64bit. It just seems quicker and more robust than 32bit.
Just some ideas you can try.
1 Have you updated to sp1 before attempting the install of flash? There were some changes made to security settings with sp1.
2 You are logged on as admin when you are trying to install flash correct?

yeah its SP1 and logged in as admin.... im using Firefox anyway so its not of importance just would have been nice...

in what way do you find it quicker??

Im not gunna give up on it as quick as Ive made out hehe - perhaps I will continue to install office 2007 and perfect disk and run a defrag and see if it loads as quick as 32-Bit...

That I do not know; you would need to check the site of whoever made the laptop. That is one area that 64bit is still behind; driver support.

It is one of the things I always recommend to people before doing an install; check to see if there is driver support for ALL of your hardware. Failure to do this results in a lot of frustration
