transfering from XP to Vista
Hi,
I am having so much trouble transfering stuff from my maim pc XP to the new laptop Vista.
I have just mastered the horrible e mail section on Vista linking outlook express and hotmail addresses together on one window. But I can not for the life of me get my contacts details (addresses e-mail address etc) across to the laptop. (Tried coping from disc or memory stick)

Also the web browser favorites/history section is horrible. Seems no quick way to delete history on the day, and no way can I load up all my list of favorites from the old pc (XP) onto the taptop.

Getting more and more stressed each day, and need to take laptop away for 6 weeks, so need all the stuff thats on my main home pc.

Any suggestions please.
( And how anoying is Vista, seems to have a mind of its own, things pop us you never asked for, changes get made without you being asked...nighmare for the inexperienced computer owner)

Chris.

There is NO Outlook Express in Vista. It is called Windows Mail.

The contacts from the old machine need to be exported to a CSV file. Then this CSV file on a floppy or thumb drive can be imported into the Vista Contacts.

I have done this on many machines without a hitch.

As for Favorites, copy them from the old machine again t a thumb drive, and then copy them to the Vista machine.
The path on Vista is "C:/users/(Username)/Favorites". The path is the same on Vista except there is NO Documents and Settings" folder to use, just use the new "User" folder.

IE7 on Vista is the same as it is on XP. Just open History using the Green History icon in IE7 select the day or today and delete the required entries.

Half way there.
Hi DaveA and thanks for the reply. Perhaps you can take me through those steps in a bit more detail as i have no idea how i need to copy a file in CVS form. Thanks.
Chris.
