Question OS doing some odd things...
I'm not really sure if this is in the right place or not, but here goes...

Lately my laptop has started doing some odd things. For example, every now and then the task/start bar will shift along to the left a bit, leaving it unusable, yet this is sorted by resetting the computer. Also, my connection to my wireless goes from full signal to about 2 bars despite the fact I'm sitting right beside the router and haven't moved. My startup time has also become ridiculous, even though the computer is less than a year old, I've installed additional memory AND the HD isn't full, or anywhere near. Is there some reasonable explanation for the way it's acting? I run a virus scan with Avast fairly often and nothing has been found except for one trojan horse which I deleted. Oh, and is there any way of 'resetting' my computer to get rid off anything thats gathered over the past year that I want rid of, kind of want to have it back the way it was when I got it and only put on what I really need.
Thanks

What is the make and model of this machine?
What else have you added since you got the machine other than the memory?
Did you get the correct memory when you install the new?
Was it additional memory or did you replace the old stick(s) with new ones?

Edit
What version of Vista are you running, Home Premium, Home Basic, Ultimate or what?

Its a Samsung R40 plus.
I've added no other hardware but memory.
As far as I know, yes.
I replaced 2 512MB sticks with 2 new 1GB sticks.

How did it run with the old memory?
Slower, faster or what?

It ran slower with the old memory, speed picked up when I changed it. Was months ago.
