dual boot can't see vista partition I got a new HP pc with vista pre-installed in the primary partition and there was a smaller system partition. I guess the smaller one has the recovery files?
Anyways I shrank the primary partion, then created a new partion and formatted that.
Then re-booted with xp cd but when I went to install, it only showed one c: partition and it appeared to be the size of the partition I just created so installed xp there.
It said the space was unformatted although I had just formatted in vista.
So now I have XP but I can only see my c: drive where xp is installed but can't see the vista partition or the smaller system partition.
I figured once I installed XP I could use VistaBootPro to restore vista to the boot menu, but can't see vista.
I read something in another dual boot post about dis-abling a sata driver or something in the bios, does that have anything to with it?
And its a new pc and I didn't make a restore disk. I know I should have done that before I started screwing around so I don't have a vista cd.
any suggestions appreciated
