Angry Vista Reinstall Bother
Evening all

I'm having a bit of bother reinstalling Vista HP on my Dell Inspiron 1720! I can boot from the Vista HP DVD fine and dandy, but when I go to reinstall, it goes through all the copying files, installing components hoo ha, but then just goes to a black screen with a white cursor on, and freezes up,s o not competing the installation. Now, I have all my files and docs backed up, plus the driver install discs from Dell, so should I format the HDD from the earlier menu, and then try to reinstall? If I do this, will I also then need to reinstall all the drivers too?

Sorry if this is abit vague, very much an intermediate user, and first time I have come across this at all! Any help would be appreciated!

Format and reinstall and you will need motherboard and other hardware drivers.

Cool, thanks, at what stage will I need the hardware drivers? Presumably these will be on my Dell drivers disk?

Nope, still no joy I'm afraid, exactly the same thing happened as last time- seemigly finished the install, and then crashed on me with the black screen and white cursor again. Is it a return to sender job?
