Vista Recovery Console, SATA HDD
Hi

I'm pretty new to asking for help on a forum but ill try to make my problem as clear as possible.

Following the Vista Security updates on the 13/14th of May this year my computer failed to load Windows on reboot. The computer would load normally untill you get to where the vista loading bar should appear and I would get a black screen and nothing untill i restarted. Loading into Safe mode would not work either (Computer appeared to freeze at this point, not loading any of the drivers).

I decided to find the Vista DVD to use the disk recovery console but before i had a chance by brother thought it a good idea to reset the bios to default. The System is run off two 400Gb Seagate SATA so i was had to reset the bios to allow Raid and rebuild the array. This was fine but now instead of getting the window boot options i recieve another error which says "Disk boot Error, Please insert system disk".

Inserting the OS DVD and attempting recovery i found that the existing Vista OS on the array could not be found, and when searching, the HDD could not be found either (using recoevery console). If i click install however (Fresh Vista Intall) its able to locate the array.

Basically I'm wondering if its possible to make recovery console locate the drives and the existing install. I've been using this syetem for about a year with no problems and there is alot of stuff which hasn't been backed up so data recovery is also a priority (otherwise no problems with starting from scratch)

Any help with the matter would be appreciated.

Please no sudgestions of using a "professional" data recovery company and yes I am aware that I may be able to extract the arrays contents by accessing it from a second machine, just wanted to know if there was a way around this.

HDD array not detected in recovery console, hence no assigned drive letter so chkdsk wont work. HDD only detected when clean install option in choosen.
