Unhappy Vista /Windows XP sharing problem
My partner and I have both had XP side by side wth no problems the printer and other equipment would be with the XP my partner had. Now I have this new Vista one and they won't share I can not print or see a folder that I use to be able to put things in so he could collect and put on his computer in his folders.

I miss the sharning and the printing post of all, now I have to email him everthing and print it off that way PAIN.

Thank you for your advice

Hi

Just the norm like turning it on and in printer looking to find one and it car'nt.

I think I need a step by step as to how to do it we were told the two computers should just see/find each other? the two XP had no problem but this vista can not see anything

If the vista machine and xp machine cant see each other you may need to download the link layer topolgy discovery protocol on the xp machine because vista uses a different network mapping system than xp. here is the link to download it from microsoft

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...1-37f485fa34ea

download this protocol into your XP machine and then your vista machine should see your xp machine and vice versa and you should be able to share files and share pinters the same you did with the 2 xp machines.

To add to the above if running a 3rd party firewall; check your firewall settings and look for an option to add your network to the 'Trusted Zone'.
