Solved: "Your windows license will expire in 0 hours" Then reboots
Hi all,
I'm running a dual boot of ubuntu and vista,
vista on internal and ubuntu on external. I've been living with the problem and really can't put up with it any more. This error started around the time i installed ubuntu.

Approximately one hour after logging on, i get a message box, entitled windows activation that says "your windows license will exprie in 0 hours. Backup your files and then install any edition of windows vista." Another hour later, it does a reboot, but like a desktop turning off at the wall. No "Would you like to save?" or anything. The msg box can be seen here, though closer to when i first got the problem (note the 7 days):

At the bottom of this page, http://www.microsoft.com/windows/pro...a/preview.mspx it gives an exact description of the problem. Except i'm not running a beta, it's a full legit version of vista home premium. A while ago (when i first got the problem) I even changed my product key
(MS were very helpful on the phone, though it was lengthy).

*NOTE: It never reboots in ubuntu*
Any help would be Very helpful!

Thanks,
Nappymonster

It was a full legit version, and was working fine for over about a year (maybe a little longer). I've done loads of googling, thinking, asking people etc, and found that sp1 beta was causing the issue. An uninstall of sp1 beta worked fine.

Hello
I have exactly the same problem as described above.

Bought new pc in March 2008 with Vista Home Premium 64bit.
I have the original OEM Sytem Builder Pack with the Product Key and the Original Windows DVD.

Exactly a week ago it started showing the window that says that my Windows license is about to expire and then restarts itself after a couple of hours. Extremely annoying.

My PC Information window says I have Service Pack 1, v.668
Don't know if this is the Beta that you refer to and I don't know if and how I can uninstall it. (Not listed under installed programs)

Please Help

Thanks
