Vista SP1 - 32bit/64bit
Where do I go to download Vista SP1?
I received my system disc and recovery discs today and laptop is working fine now, but my previous OS was a 64 bit and this one is 32 bit. Is there a big difference or should I not worry about it? Thanks for all the past help, I'm almost past "beginner" now!

hi! im having the same arguement with myself, only its about which one to buy. other than a slight performance drop you wont notice anything different from what i have heard. but if you had 64 bit before, and you are bothered by the drop in performance (if you notice it) then i would enquire about getting 64 bit discs. was it working before it went wrong? (im guessing since you say "laptop is working fine now").

also, as a side note, could you pm (or whatever) me any compatability differences you experience?

and i think that SP1 must be acquired from the microsoft website, since it didn't show up in my windows update on my laptop.

Go to Start > All Programs > Windows Update

Or if that doesn't work... go to Google, type in "Windows Update" and it should be one of the first few links.

Good luck!

The easiest way to get SP1 if it doesn't show up in Windows Update is to go to www.microsoft.com and do a search for Vista SP1. Within the first few links you should find a link to the downloadable.

FYI the Windows Update website will not work in Vista all it does is open up Windows Update locally on your computer. Same problem will still exist.
