Hi. I have a new laptop w/Vista and the icon problem started when I installed Mozback to move my Mozilla settings from my old computer. A bunch of icons just popped up on my destop--they were called things like Bookmarks and search.sqlite and xpti.data. Weird things like that. I just hid them. But then I downloaded an update for my woot watcher and 4 more icons popped up on my desktop. They say things like preferences, sessionstore, compreg.dat, and extensions. I can't even hide them. Where the hell can I put them? When I do the drop down menu from each and get options for moving them, I can only move them to "Documents" or "Compressed Folder" or "Mail Recipient". These new icons are driving me crazy! Help! Thanks in advance.

Sounds like when you moved your profile, you set it to use the desktop as it's profile folder instead of the normal location of %APPDATA%\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\xxxxxxxx.default\
where xxxxxxxx is a random set of characters, different on each PC.

The path to the profile folder is in the profiles.ini file, which is located in %appdata%\Mozilla\Firefox.

You may be able to use Mozback to back up your current profile, then restore it to the correct location. I'm not familiar with Mozback, so I can' help much with that.
To do it manually, you'd need to determine the correct folder name (xxxxxxxx.default), move all of the files for your profile off of the desktop into that folder, then edit the profiles.ini file to point to that folder.
