I'm sick of VISTA. I have a Dell 410 computer that originally had XP Media Center. I have the Dell disk for reinstalling XP. I have no reason to keep VISTA on the computer unless it's necessary to reduce the screwing around to install XP. The Hard Drive has 140 GB of space. Please reply the easiest!

1. Back up data
2. Boot to Dell XP MCE DVD
3. Delete partition
4. Create new partition
5. Install XP
6. Restore Data

Note, I've heard rumors that the Dell MCE DVD doesn't work. It will stop and ask for the 2nd CD during setup. Since this is a DVD and not the 2 CD version, you're stuck. If your Dell has the Recovery partition, use that instead just to be safe.
Using Acronis or Ghost or some other imaging software to image your current setup may be a VERY good idea.

Next time I decide to Factory restore my Dell MCE system, I'll have to try the disk instead of using the Restore partition, just to see if that rumor is true.

There are a lot of Vista features you can disable or modify to make it act more like XP, so as Hughv says, maybe the Vista experts here can help you get it running the way you want.
