Format Vista
I want to format and reinstall. I have a Toshiba satellite A 135. There are many problems with it so I decides to start over. I looked in vain to locate and download the "recovery disks. I started in safe mode with command prompt. Entered format, found my volume # and was asked if I wanted to delete drive C after the warning.. I said yes and then got a message the partition could not be deleted. I would appreciate any help. Thanks in advance. mkay517@aol.com

Thanks for your help but it does not tell me how to create recovery disks or to format my drive.

If you do as instructed the drive will be reset to factory settings and ALL of the drive WILL be over written.

If you were to search the Toshiba support web site for the USER Manual of the model that you will find the instructions for making the DVD a few pages before the one I posted.

By the way , the model number that you posted is NOT a complete number, just a General grouping of models.
Go here http://www.csd.toshiba.com/cgi-bin/t..._sc_modSel.jsp for starters.

Thank you once again, I will do some reading. My problem is one of a script problem. There are secure web sites that I am unable to sign on to.. While in a hotel I paid $10 to use the cable and could not click to accept the terms of the cable company. A call to the cable company informed me I had a script problem probably in my registry and they could not help me.

That sounds more like a simple web browser problem. Formatting the entire system is overkill. Unless you're still at the hotel or are currently experiencing a similar problem, it might be difficult to troubleshoot. You could try resetting browser security settings, disabling firewall software, or using another browser.

Thanks, Your right, I will try other options. Formatting is really overkill but it would have keep me busy playing and learning for hours. I really only use the laptop a few times a year when I am away from home. I would love to dump Vista for XP.

Don't even think about dumping Vista. I know of a couple guys who are still fighting with Toshiba to get XP drivers for their laptops.

Why not start a new thread with your scripting problem and someone may be of help there.

First of all take your email address out of that post or you will be spammed for life.
I would run this program as you are probably loaded with spyware anyway:
www.superantispyware.com and tell us what it found. There are repair tools in it under "Preferences" "Repairs" we can explain afterwards that will help these issues.
