Can I safely delete the tons of lpksetup files in my temp folder?
I have noticed tons of lpksetup files gathering in my Temps folder under Windows. Everytime I boot the computer, new ones are added. Can I delete them safely? Or will ATF Cleaner do so? Does it run at all on Windows Vista Home Premium, or is it only a Windows XP tool? Using Disk Cleanup does not empty the folder. Below is a screenshot of the files I found:

Any file in the Windows Temp folder should be able to be deleted. It pays to restart ones machine after you empty the temp folder, as it may remove some that are still in use and must be regenerated.

Okay, but what kind of files are these lpksetup files anyway? How do I prevent them from being created in the first place? And does ATF Cleaner run under Windows Vista? I'm not sure I want to fiddle manually with the temp folder under windows...

They are required temp files for Vista. All machines will have them, if you are that concerned just go in a delete them from time to time.

All OS's and programs use temp files it is standard and they should in most cases get deleted when the guilty program closes properly, BUT, not always.

They are showing as Text Documents, so just double click one and it should open in Notepad. That might give you a clue as to what program is creating them. Probably a log file of some kind; the .log extension shows as a Text Document as well as .txt files.

Don't see too many programs that use Windows\temp -- most use the temp folder under the current users profile, which is at C:\Users\<username\AppData\Local\Temp and is what the %temp% system variable points to. Most cleaners only empty the folder that %temp% points to, and not the Windows\Temp folder. But, anything put into a temp folder should be safe to delete.

I don't use any cleaners, I just manually check %temp% and Windows\temp from time to time and delete whatever is in there.

Outcaste, thanks for your suggestion, I opened one of the text files and found the following, it seems to related to a language pack problem. Any ideas how to solve this?

It is a Language Pack Removal scheduled service The service is scheduled to execute after every bootup. Microsoft says "Unused language pack files are automatically deleted from your computer. LPRemove is the program that automatically runs in silent mode during the boot process to perform this task."
It is another one of Microsoft's whims as does not need to be repeated after every bootup.
You can disable it in Computer Management without any harm, so that no more will appear in the temp folder.
Select Administrative tools in the Control Panel, and then Computer management.
go to: TaskScheduler --> TaskSchedulerLibrary --> Microsoft --> Windows --> MUI
. Now doubleclick in the UPPER central window pane; then click the "Triggers" tab, and then the "Edit" button in the lower part of that tab. Finally, in the Edit dialog, uncheck the "Enabled" checkbox.
