Crashing when waking from Sleep
I was just wondering if I could get some advice for my laptop.

I've recently installed Vista Ultimate on a spare 25gb partition on my laptop (I have XP on the main 80gb partition).

When I put the computer to sleep/standby, it goes down fine, but when I power it back up with the power button, it just starts again as if I'd turned it off, and then tells me Windows recovered from a serious error etc. No other button (other than the media center one, which does the same as the power button) works to "wake" it up.

I travel around with the laptop quite a lot, so it's important to me to be able to sleep it so it recovers quick if I need, so am just wondering if I could get some advice on how to make Sleep work, instead of having to hybernate it.

The reason I post on the Vista forum is that the problem only started once I'd installed Vista, however it now does the same thing in XP too.

Thanks in advance for any help.

PS. In case you need, Dell Inspiron 6400, 2ghz dual core, 2gb RAM, 80gb XP partition, 25gb Vista Ultimate 32bit partition, ATI X1400 graphics.

In Power Options, do you have the power button set for "sleep" or "standby"?

It was set as Shut Down on my XP before I installed Vista and it worked alright, then on Vista it was also Shut Down, I tried putting it to Sleep and still does the same. I don't have the option to Stand By on Vista ><

Whatever I put it as it still gives me the problem when waking it unfortunately ><
