How to enable the drag and drop feature in Vista?
In Vista I want to Enable the drag and drop feature. I just can't find the area to do this in. Currently I cannot drag and drop anything anywhere in Vista... but I want to.

I've seen it but now I can't find it.

Anyone know how I can accomplish this?

Thanks for any suggestions.

NTG

P.S. I've checked Folder Options and have not see it in there.

Right click on the start icon, then select properties, in the start menu tab select "customize" then tick the box by "enable context menus and dragging and dropping" hit Ok, then OK.

I believe that hint will only enable drag and drop in the start menu?
I run as the global Administrator, so cannot test it, but I believe if you disable the UAC you will find you can drag and drop. (Type Msconfig in the start and selecy the tools tab. Scroll down and click "disable UAC" and then launch it. (bottom right)

"I believe that hint will only enable drag and drop in the start menu?"

Not sure, I know they removed it from advanced system settings/performance. thought they moved it to the start menu properties, I guess not.

You are correct, disabling UAC will restore drag and drop functionality, more on it here

I have NEVER turned off the UAC on my current Vista machines and the drag and drop works and has always worked.

Works on mine too.

NewTechGuy, not sure if it's the same for a desktop (you don't say which you have)..., but on a laptop, try, right click on desktop>mouse pointers>device settings tab>and halfway down the page...settings, expand the tapping tree, and go into tap and drag, and make sure there's a tick in the 'tap again and hold to drag' box.

Assuming of course, that all mice (mouses, meeces ) have tap and drag?

Hello again and thanks for all the responses.

Mumbo dog's recommendation worked great. And I want to thanks Mumbodog for that. The funny thing is that the drag and drop feature was already enabled. So I unchecked it, clicked ok, then clicked okay again. Then I went back, re-enabled the drag and drop feature, clicked okay again (twice) and now it works just fine!

Funny how computers work eh?

Anyways, thanks again to all who responded to my post. Your comments have been greatly appreciated.
