Solved: removable disk error
I have a HP laptop and have been using a flash disk to save some files. I have accessed a few times. I put it in tonight and the box pops up for me to click on but when i click on it It says please insert a disk into removable disk G but the disk is already been put in. I hope someone can help I don't want to lose the info on the disk.

See what is says in Disk Management. Try changing the drive letter.

Right-click Computer > Manage > Disk Management.

I checked disk management it says
Disk C healthy
HP recovery disk D healthy
Disk online
Disk 1 Removable G, no media
CD Rom 0, DVD E, no media
I did change the drive letter from F to G
I just right clicked on the disk 1 G and under manager it says device working properly

Do you always use the "Safe to remove " icon when you remove your thumb drives from the computer?

I didn't know there was a safe to remove icon so I guess noe I just pull the flash disk out. Did I damage it by doing that. I have done it many other times like that.

The odds are yes. If nothing else the data was damaged.
The icon will be in the "Notifcation area".

Yes i just found the icon. So there is no way to get the info off that flash disk now?

Try it on another machine, if you have the same problem, I would say NO.
BUT, I have been known to be wrong more than once.

yea i did try it on my sons and it said the same msg. So why does it recognise when i put it in the machine but then it says to insert disk. This confuses me. As you can see I am computer illiterate

What is the make and model of this thumb drive?
Some OEM's have data recover steps.

no it's wide about 2 inches and aboout 3 inches long I think it does have a warrany on it. I need to find the pkg it came.
