Vista won't boot up.
About a week ago I wanted to try out PcLinuxOS, so I split my HDD and I loaded the live Cd. When I first tried to install it, the installation froze and did not continue, I left it on for a while to see if it would work, but still nothing. So I turned it off and tried to reinstall it, it worked but when I tried to boot back into Vista it would just give me the bar the maoves back and forth and nothing more. I tried running the Windows Vista installation Cd it came with, but no luck with that either. When it finishes loading all the files on the Cd, it gives the moving bar and then the screen stays black. If anyone can help me with this problem, I would really appreciate it.

Thanks in advance,
Anty121

You could check with Linux (fdisk?) to see if you haven't blown the Vista partition away.

Alright, and how would I go about doing that? (Sorry if this is a dumb question, but I don't know much about Linux)

Also, I am able to see and access the Windows partition on Linux, but not boot into it.

You can get a command line in a terminal window. The terminal can be usually be found at Applications menu -> Accessories -> Terminal, or somewhere near that depending on the distribution. You can type man fdisk into google to get the parameters for the fdisk command. I'm a bit rusty with my unix and can't help much beyond this, perhaps someone else will jump in. Try to not randomly put parameters into fdisk as you might erase existing partitions, but the fdisk -h and fdisk -l commands alone should be safe. Be sure to read the output carefully. This should give you an idea as to what is going on. There are probably newer more efficient fdisk like programs around but I can't remember any of them offhand. The details of fdisk and similar tools should be easily accessible through Google. Good luck!

I split it using PcLinuxOs. It had an option to automatically shrink the windows partition and I did it that way.
