Exclamation Installing / Running Apps on Vista
Help !

I am running Vista Ultimate 32 Bit and its been ok but all of a sudden applications are not available. I re-installed them (Acrobat reader for example )but I can't get beyond the app trying to install its self again every time i run it. This is happenening with almost everything I try to install and is starting to do my head in. Another app with the same problem is windows live (mail).

Anyone got any ideas ?

This is my first post so i hope i have stuck to the rules (I did try to look for a similar thread first but please forgive me as i'm a newbie)

Sounds like a problem with the Windows Installer (MSI) system has got corrupted some how.

Thanks , I just tried that but unfortunately no success,
I tried rolling back a week (before the problem) all i can think is windows updates have screwed vista further than it already was.
Live mail starts to configure then whoosh nothing more happens
I think i'm going to buy an abacus or a blackboard

If it has got in such a state, it would seriously consider a fresh reinstall of Windows from scratch to ensure a good clean system.

I'm inclined to agree Peter. If you don't hear from me for a while the install went pear shaped.
I will no doubt be back on later today to let you know how things go.

Thank you for your efforts once again.
