Question New Compaq laptop
I just opened the box......I find no clues as to what the three CDs enclosed are for. It is recommended to copy your beginning set up....am I to use these for that? when I run the CDs, I get some drawings of file folders, etc but nothing happens when I click on them. WHERE are the instructions?

Your laptop came with CD's? Lucky... usually, everything is preinstalled.

Anyway!
First of all, are you absolutely sure you need to run the cd's? What's all this talk about copying your beginning setup? What said this?

What are the CDs labeled as? Take note of things like numbers and things that seem like they might be descriptive of the disc's function.

...is this a new laptop or a used one. If it's used, you might want to contact the previous owner. I don't think a brand new laptop would contain dvd's with handwritten labels.

My Hp came with nothing, that sounds like a return, after someone made the 3 backup DVD's which is what it took to do my backup. Never heard of utilities coming on hand written discs.

Do you have any clue as to why I am getting blue highlighting on everything the cursor touches? It is lighted up as in a cut and paste operation except even column headings light up as I move the cursor up to minimize a screen. ctrl A stops it for the moment but it returns at the next touch of the cursor.
