Exclamation Error code: 0x800F0823 when installing SP1
I have Windows Vista Ultimate x64 edition. When i try installing SP1 i keep coming up with the same error code. I've checked to see if my computer installed SP1 on its own and it hasn't. I've received this code before not being able to install other updates as well. i obviously went to microsofts website to find out what the error code entailed and to see if there was a solution. according to microsoft my Windows Moduler Installer is out of date and needs to be update and that by simply using Windows Update it will update the moduler. I'm finding a problem with that. My updater runs every day. I even manually run it sometimes. According to my updater there are no updates available well minus the 33 language packs. I've got it set to receive all updates windows and non-windows alike. I've even tried installing the language packs but i get the same error. Any help how to solve this would be great.

I had the same problem on windows vista 32 bit and i found that by doing a complete nuke of the hard drive and a fresh install the installation worked perfect

i'm hoping that's a last resort though. It's not a big deal but it can be time consuming especially when i need to reorganize my information and having to reinstall all those programs and rerun all the updates. TIME CONSUMING! lol!

try downloading the file directly from Microsoft's website just make sure that it is the x64 edition. and try getting the microsoft installer to see if that works
p.s ignore every thing on the download page just follow your gut instinct

I've tried that already. The only thing left is to do a fresh install. When windows update wouldn't download it i downloaded it directly and ran the setup but that's when i received the error code. When i run windows update it doesn't even bring SP1 as a viable update and when i open the windows Welcome Center it doesn't specify the service pack so my guess is that it never was installed.
