Mic and Speaker Issues
I'm sorry if this is the wrong forum, I wasn't really sure where to put it. I figured this would be my best bet, since the hardware works with my old XP computer, and the problem hasn't always been around.

I've got Vista, with SP2 installed. I used to use a microphone on this computer for online gaming and things, but lately I've found that it no longer works. I've looked all over the internet, and haven't really been able to find anything that helps. I've tried messing around in the sound panel a bit, and unfortunately I must've screwed something up last time - now I can't get any sound to come OUT of my computer either. I know neither of the issues are with my mic/speakers themselves either, since I've tried different mics and headphones/speakers. Any suggestions?

Well for starter where did you get SP 2 for Vista?
It has NOT been release or even been talked about by Microsoft. You may mean SP1.

Tell us more about this machine, hardware wise and OS? Did you upgrade to Vista, what version of Vista (Home Basic, Home Premium or what), and how much RAM?

You might want to reinstall the drivers...

Check the manufacture's website or your computer vendor's site.

Heh, my bad... must be SP1. Guess I'm still too used to XP.
It's Vista home premium, and it's all I've ever had on this. 2 GB ram...
I'll try giving the drivers a go here in a minute.

EDIT:
Alright: I did a system restore to before I messed with the settings, and reinstalled the sound card drivers, and now I've got sound again. I still can't get the mic to pick anything up though...
