Unhappy Vista Ultimate DVD Error
Hi all,
I recently bought a new computer, and the guy I bought it made a backup copy of Vista. He lives insterstate, so i dont want to have to ask for anothe DVD!

What I do is I run the DVD in my DVD drive, and the disc spins (you can hear it), then comes up with this error:

'AUTORUN.dll' is corrupt or cannot be loaded. Setup cannot continue. [Error code 0x7E].

Is there anyway I can fix or download something for this?

Oh and, I checked my computer with Upgrade Advisor, and I can run it.

Thanks in advance

This is a common sort of issue with burned (ISO) DVDs -- since the gentleman you bought this system from probably does not have a license to supply you with ISO copies -- it is unlikely we can continue this discussion.

It is a problem between the DVD and the burner -- some burners can read them -- some not, depending on the quality of the media, the burner, the burn rate and who knows what else.

If this were an official installation DVD from Microsoft -- I would suggest you contact them -- but since it isn't -- we really can't help either.

By the way I would suggest you "run/open" this validation tool and post the results before I allow any further input in this thread:
